Nugget Column #02 – Tuesday October 7th, 2014
We’re counting down the days until curling season (seven to be exact) and we’re happy knowing that our offering to the curling community is the most comprehensive it’s ever been.
As a sport, we are competing not only against other very attractive recreational activities, we are contending for entertainment dollars and for a very limited amount of leisure time.
It is for that reason that we have introduce a series of “Open Leagues” and invite you to choose an organized playing option that works with your schedule.
Open Leagues align with growing trends and are most definitely the future of curling across the world. It’s curling without barriers. Any gender, age or ability can participate with both team and individual enrollment being acceptable.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; we’ve got you covered with open league draws alternating at 6:30 and 8:30pm in addition to daytime curling options offered in the morning.
Returning curlers have the opportunity to draw great value for their membership by playing more than once a week. As a sort of finesse sport, it will not only be great exercise and fun, you will also notice your game improving at an exponential rate.
It is recognized that the hours between after-school and dinner time present the greatest opportunity to get youth physically active and engaged in sport.
Not only does after-school sport battle increasing rates of obesity, it improves cognitive function and builds character.
Our Timbit Curling program begins October 27th and runs every Monday and Wednesday from 4:15 – 5:15pm until the March Break. School-aged children in grades 6-8 would make ideal participants.
A new Junior Curling program is being introduced this season for school-aged children in grades 9-12 (or bantam athletes with curling experience). Junior Curling begins on October 21st and runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 – 5:15pm.
