Sherry Gains International Experience

Local curler, Kate Sherry, capped off a dream season by participating in the Optimist U18 International Curling Championships held in Edmonton, Alberta from March 30th – April 3rd.

Her Sudbury based team skipped by Kira Brunton earned their berth as Team Ontario in a best 2 out 3 contest with the 2014-2015 Southern Ontario bantam girls champions earlier this season.

The girls finished with a 2-3 record having played against rinks representing Manitoba, Minnesota, Quebec, Alaska and British Colombia.

It was announced that this would be the last year for the Optimist U18 Curling Championship with plans to establish a U18 national championship in partnership with Curling Canada. It is hopeful that a World U18 Curling Championship will also be approved shortly.
