NOCA Awards Honour Club, President

The Northern Ontario Curling Association, (NOCA) named several award recipients at its Annual General Meeting, Monday June 20th.

NOCA presents annual awards in several categories: Volunteer, Coach, Club Recognition, and Honorary Life Membership.

This year the Awards Committee received some outstanding nominations. “The ongoing dedication and commitment of the Volunteers and Coaches is to be commended. They go above and beyond in their contribution to building the sport at the club and team level,” states Awards Committee Chair Sandra Lahti.

2016 NOCA Volunteer Awards: Pierrette (Peach) Lachance, Longlac Curling Club Dan Flynn, Geraldton Curling Club Marilyn Stevenson, Kakabeka Falls Curling Club

2016 NOCA Coach Award: Randy Ronnebeck, Wheelchair Curling Coach, Kenora Curling Club

2016 NOCA Honorary Life Membership: Mark Brown, North Bay Granite Club

2016 NOCA Club Recognition Award: North Bay Granite Club

Lahti noted that “The North Bay Granite Club has demonstrated superior hosting abilities, creativity in developing new leagues and opportunities to meet current trends and demands, and implementing a “business” approach to club operations to ensure the future viability of the club”.

The awards will all be presented to the recipients at their clubs in the fall of 2016. Media and photo opportunities will be available at that time.
